ITRA Distance Categories

ITRA distance categories are based on typical and popular distances of trail races. They range from 2 km (Vertical) to distances over 190 km or 100 miles (Endurance).

  • Vertical
  • 10 km
  • Half marathon (21 km)
  • Marathon (42 km)
  • 50 km
  • 50 miles (80 km)
  • 100 km
  • 100 miles (166 km)
  • Endurance (>100 miles)

ITRA is the International Trail Running Association.

In reality, the exact distance of a trail race usually differs from the distance categories listed. A sufficiently large distance tolerance range is used for each race category. In this way, a race result always falls into a category.
